Top 5 Best Beds For Teenager

Based on my tests, and overall mattress reviews, these are the five best mattresses for teenager:

Signature Sleep Memoir Memory Foam Mattress - Fully Supportive and Pressure Relief

If you need an upgrade for a mattress, then I would recommend the Signature Sleep Memoir Mattress!

When we first received the mattress, both my son and I were excited to open it. With my supervision, my teenage was the one who removed the mattress from the packaging and set it up.

The mattress expanded itself, taking three days or so until it was ready to use. While there was a bit of an odor, it went away after a day.

As for its support, we have no complaints at all! He is impressed with how soft and supportive it is, with the balance of firmness and luxurious feeling to it. However, it isn't as cooling compared to mattresses that have gel memory foam layers to it, which may be a problem for hot sleeper.

Pros
  • Great support and feels luxury
  • Lightweight and easy to setup
  • Comfortable and lessens body pain
  • Conforms to body shape well
Cons
  • Not suitable for hot sleeper
  • It has a slight odor and may take longer to expand

Arctic Dreams Cooling Foam Gel Mattress - The Cool and Breathable

If your teen is a hot sleeper or your family lives in a warm climate, then you should get the Arctic Dreams Cooling Gel Mattress.

The setup was pretty easy. It arrived in sturdy packaging and was easy to open up, and it expanded almost immediately. It only took one to two days to extend completely, which was quick for a thick mattress.

Once my son got to use it, he started thanking me! Apparently, it was one of the most cooling mattresses he's ever had (since we've tested two to three mattresses before this) and he enjoys sleep better. No more night sweats in the middle of the night, and he sleeps soundly.

While it's no miracle and would cure body pain overnight, it's a great mattress that would hold up for at least a year or so!

Pros
  • Cooling properties for fresh night sleep
  • Inflates quickly and within one day
  • Comfortable and feels luxury
  • Firmness to help lessen body pain
Cons
  • It may not be firm enough for some
  • Edges would begin to dent after a year

Sleep Master Premium Memory Foam Mattress - The Fresh and Plush

What I loved about the Zinus Mattresswas the ultimate comfort it gave, hence the name! It's a twin-sized bed, the perfect size for a single teen (though you can get the Twin XL or Full, which is also available if ever they prefer something more prominent). I chose the twin-sized bed, which was adequate for my growing son.

Based on my research, the mattress is made of BioFoam and other relieving comfort high-density foam which is CertiPUR-US Certified. So I was assured that it was durable and supportive, made with the premium materials built to last.

And I was so right! The mattress holds up amazingly and with the proper firmness and support needed to relieve pain. Honestly, there are days that I nap on it while he is gone because of how it conforms to my body so well.

Pros
  • Conforms to body excellently
  • Helps relieve pressure points
  • Holds up well and durable to last for years
  • Excellent customer service
Cons
  • It has an odor that lasts for a long time
  • Some complaints of it not expanding fully

Casper Sleep Memory Foam Mattress (Full) - The Strong and Durable

The Casper Sleep Mattress is the perfect upgrade for those who have an extra budget.

Why is it an upgrade? Because it has almost all the features, I needed for my son's sleep quality.

For starters, it has cooling features that made it easy for hot sleeper to rest without night sweats. Second, it relieves back and neck pain efficiently (He reported back with only praise after a week of sleeping without anybody aches in the morning!). And third, it's incredibly durable and made to last for years, saving me money in the long run!

While it does take a longer time to expand entirely and has an odor at first, I can say it's well worth the wait and investment. It's also a great mattress for the older person like me.

Pros
  • Cooling and perfect for hot sleepers
  • Extremely comfortable and with the right firmness
  • Supportive and pressure relief to relieve body pain
  • Very durable and lasts for years
Cons
  • Odor dissipates after a long time
  • Comes at a higher price

Best Price Mattress 12-Inch Memory Foam Mattress - Soft and Comfortable Body-Conforming

And finally, we have the Best Price Mattress, which is a full mattress perfect for those who have a lower price range. While it may not be the most durable and long-lasting (I can say that this can take up one or two years worth of nightly sleep), it's a cheap matter that holds up well and with the great features that make it enough to sleep on.

My son reports of better sleep compared to his old mattress, though not exactly a cloud or luxurious feel. It does have the body-conforming properties that relieve pressure points, as well as the plushness that has him sleep without any complaints.

At such a great deal for a mattress big enough for a growing teen, it's something to look into if you're on a tight budget!

Pros
  • Affordable and with great value
  • Helps relieve pressure points greatly
  • Comfortable and has you sleep soundly
Cons
  • A bit too thin
  • Not as durable as other mattresses

Teenage Life in the Technology Age

best bed for teenagers

With the Internet and smartphones being a massive part of their lives, they now have different lifestyles compared to us before as we were growing. Did you know that there are half of the US teens this year (between ages 13 to 17) use Facebook and other social media accounts? 95% of teens now have access to or own a smartphone. 45% of these teens are almost invariably online! â€‹(Via: Pew Research Center)

You probably see them on their phones even in the wee hours in the morning. And that's not a good thing! It affects their sleep in the long run, which ends up also impacting their growth and development adversely.

After all, just like adults, sleep is food for the brain for children and teenagers (Via: National Sleep Foundation). Without it, it would limit their ability to learn and concentrate. Plus, it has them prone to acne (which is a HUGE deal for them during these times!).

That's why it's important to keep in touch with your teenager, to communicate with them and invest in what's best for their health..

Why Should Pick the Best Mattresses for Teenagers?

mattress for teenagers

You're probably wondering: Why is it so important to get the beds for teenager? I mean, even I was a bit irritated with spending so much time checking all these beds out without getting too much input from my teenager (after all, teens don't seem to care for much as long as the bed is comfortable!).

However, once I did some research on it and the types of beds to choose from, I realized that a good mattress means so many things for better sleep! Here are just some of its advantages:

1

Better Sleep for Energy and Concentration

If you've ever bought a brand new mattress with excellent support, I'm sure you've slept quite well compared to your old, lumpy one.

The same goes for teenagers! With a good bed, they can have a quality sleep they deserve. As a result, they have more energy that can help them focus more on their daily lives, such as school and extracurricular activities!

2

Goodbye, Body Aches!

Even at an early age, kids and teenagers can complain of body aches. The main culprit may not only be their standing or sitting position but the mattress quality as well.

A supportive mattress can help pressure relief, reducing pain regardless of whatever sleeping positions they do. Plus, it helps with spinal alignment, which then improves their growth and development as they undergo puberty!

3

Save on Money and Time in the Long Run!

I know how expensive mattresses can get, but it's all for a reason! Not only are you purchasing quality and support, but the durability that will provide the sleeper with quality rest for years to come.

So, in the end, the hundreds of dollars you spend won't go down the drain and will save you a ton from replacing a mattress every few years.

How to Buy the Most Suitable Mattress?

beds for teenagers

Yes, there are so many advantages a bed can do for your teenager. However, one can reap these advantages only if you pick the suitable one!

With the many choices, it can seem quite difficult looking for the perfect bed ideal for your son or daughter. That's why it's important to take your time before selecting the first one you see on the list!

To help you out, here are some important factors to consider when selecting a bed for your teenager:

1

Size and Thickness

The first thing to take note of is the size. Since your teenager is most likely sleeping on his own, it's best to get a twin or full-sized bed that can accommodate his weight and height. This is imperative as it affects the teenager's development.

Also, take note that your teenager will continue to grow, which is why you should get a bed that's enough to their child and weight as they continue to undergo puberty.

This will ensure that you don't end up replacing the mattress too soon. Focus on long-term investment of up to ten years by doing this!

2

By Specifics

There are different types of mattresses suitable for what your teenager needs. You have to sit down with your child and figure out what his needs are to know what kind of support he needs, from the firmness level he prefers down to the plushness he wants for better sleep.

I would suggest hybrid or memory foam mattresses for your teen. These offer a mix of both support and comfort to lessen body aches while having your teenager sleep well.

3

Strength and Durability

Again, you'll want a long-term investment, which is why you need to ensure that you get a mattress with the best materials and craftsmanship. That way, you are assured that it will last in the long run.

While you will need to pay more for this, it will be valuable it as they can last for up to ten years and even come with a warranty for a replacement! You should look into the top and trusted brands for assurance that you get a long-term bed to last.

Best Way to Keep a Bed Long-Lasting

Now that you're knowledgeable on the quality bed and how to choose the one for your child, the question is: How can you ensure that these beds will last for long?

With a teenager, you can expect them to mess up and forget to clean it as you instructed. As annoying as it can be, you can ensure a long-lasting bed with these tips:

  • Make sure that you rotate your mattress every six months to ensure that it wears out evenly, which also helps lengthen its lifespan. For new cushions, you can prevent it from getting lumps by rotating it every two weeks for the first three months.
  • Acquaint your teenager with how to use the bed. It's best to not sit on the edges to prevent sagging. Also, do not drop or jump straight to bed, as this can cause the mattress to lose structure quickly.
  • Keep your mattress protected with waterproof and washable covers. They should be comfortable and breathable, also helping to preserve but sleeper and mattress from allergens.
  • While it may be tempting, don't have your teenager eat or drink in the bed to stop it from crumbling and causing stains.
  • Vacuum the mattress every half year to get rid of any unwanted dust and dirt.
