Top 5 Best Bamboo Mattress Review

Based on my research, tests, and overall customer reviews, these are the 5 best bamboo mattresses to invest in now!

Brentwood Home Cypress Bamboo Mattress - Motion Isolation, Perfect for Couples

I am in love with the Brentwood Home Cypress Mattress for a variety of reasons. For starters, the structure. It arrived promptly with smart packaging that was effortless to take off.

Set up began immediately and without any issue. It expanded fully after a day or two, which was impressive for a 13-inch queen mattress!

When I laid down on it, it had the perfect firmness to it. The mattress conform to my body slowly and consistently, and I knew that it would relieve my body aches. It took a few weeks, but I got used to its firmness and noticed that I had little to no body pain anymore.

What makes it special? This is cover. It has the soft and breathable bamboo rayon cover, which feels just as high as the mattress itself. Furthermore, it also keeps its cool with the New Zealand Wool, so my partner and I had no night sweats at all!

After a few months, it remains the same and there are no sags. It holds up just as if I just got it, making it's well-earned for a CertiPUR-US certified mattress.

Pros
  • Strong and durable, built to last
  • Easy and effortless setup
  • Lessens pain and improves sleep
  • Breathable and cooling features
Cons
  • Might be too firm for some
  • Not the best for lighter people

LUCID Plush Memory Foam and Bamboo Mattress - Breathable and Cooling

Another fantastic investment would go to the LUCID Plush Mattress. While Brentwood Home had the firmer mattress for heavy sleepers or those who want something of more pressure relief, LUCID offers the plush and soft feel.

I'm not the most impressed with its structure, as I had a few issues with shipment. It's quite heavy, also taking at least three days to recoil wholly and for the odor to dissipate (but it wasn't too intense).

However, once I laid down on it, those issues disappeared. It wasn't exactly the miracle mattress, but I can't deny that it's softness! It felt like I was sleeping on a cloud while it still conformed to my body well.

I was told it had the one-inch bamboo charcoal memory foam layer. It did live up to what LUCID sold, also prioritizing safety with its Certi-PUR US certification.

After a few days, I noticed that I was looking forward to staying in bed the entire day and enjoy my time under blankets!

Pros
  • Very soft and plush
  • The body sinks into it while relieving pressure
  • Great for any sleep position
Cons
  • Pretty heavy and some shipment issues
  • Takes a bit lengthy to expand totally and has an odor

Best Price Mattress Memory Foam Mattress - Affordable and Pressure-Relieving

If you need something more affordable without scrimping on quality, then I highly-recommend the Best Price Mattress.

This full-sized mattress is perfect for single sleepers or couples, with the high-quality foam that has you feeling like you're sleeping on a cloud!

At such an economical product, you get the memory foam mattress infused with bamboo charcoal and the CertiPUR-US Certification! And when you attempt sleeping on it, you won't believe it comes at this fee to pay for.

I slept well after installing it, having no problem. It's very comfortable, and while there are some issues with the odor and loft, it's not a huge problem. I would just like to suggest that you get something thicker if you are a heavy sleeper or want more support.

So if you're on a budget or want a cheap, quality product for the guest room, this one is it.

Pros
  • Inexpensive at a great value
  • Comfortable and sinks to body shape easily
  • Lightweight and easy installation
Cons
  • Has some odor that takes long to disappear
  • Thinner than others

DreamFoam Latex Mattress with Bamboo Cover - Soft and Amazing Feel

While you may feel like this is kind of high-costing, the DreamFoam Mattress doesn't disappoint. I chose the ultra plush and soft version because I wanted something that luxurious.

I didn't expect it to feel that amazing because once it was fully set up and I laid down on it, I felt consumed by the mattress, kind of like what you think when in a hotel.

Even if it was ultra plush, I was able to get in and out of bed, shifting postures, and also if my partner moved around a lot, I didn't feel it with its motion isolation feature.

Don't expect it to be firm, but do hope it to help with your sleep and any body pain. For me, it helped with my overall neck and back pain.

I would also offer it for its breathability, coming with the bamboo cover that keeps my body fresh and well-ventilated throughout the night.

From its natural and safe material from Talalay Latex down to its soft feel, it's definitely worth the extra dollars spent.

Pros
  • Very soft and hotel-like feel
  • Sleek and amazing design
  • Durable and built to last for years
Cons
  • Slightly expensive
  • Some complaints about it sagging

Swiss Ortho Sleep Gel Memory Foam Mattress - Supportive and Comfortable

Last but not the least, I would introduce the Swiss Ortho Sleep if you're looking for something that genuinely specializes in body pain and the like.

It comes with the bamboo cover and cooling features, so it isn't only supportive but comfortable.

When I lie down on it, it has the perfect firmness that conforms to my body, sinking to my shape quickly regardless of how much I move or what sleeping posture I do.

The bamboo cover made it extra-breathable, and I noticed that I experience hot flashes and night sweats less!

And regardless of how I sleep, it keeps me supported and I rarely wake up with anybody pain or night sweats anymore! It's impressed me, and even after a few months, it holds up well.

For its low-cost at a great value, this is ideal for on-budget one or their guest rooms.

Pros
  • Arrives promptly and with easy setup
  • Helps with overall body pain and hot flashes
  • Great for any of sleeping positions or body type
Cons
  • Takes a while for the odor to subside
  • Mattress begins to sag after a year or so

What Is A Bamboo Mattress?

bamboo mattress review

Bamboo is a natural alternative to other types of fabrics such as vinyl or polyester. Usually, you can find this not only in mattresses, but in pillows, covers, or even chairs and flooring as well! These are made of safer, naturally-sourced material that prevent allergies and irritations.

However, bamboo mattresses, while comfortable, aren't all of what people praise them to be. We'll be getting into both its pros and cons to help you make the wise decision.

Before that, check out this informative video talking about what a bamboo mattress is:

Is A Bamboo Mattress Right For Me?

bamboo mattress reviews

When I was looking for something more natural and safer for better sleep, the first thing I did was to look into the bamboo mattress' benefits.

I was surprised with what it had to offer! It wasn't only just made of natural sources, but also provided these advantages:

1

Comfort and Breathability

For starters, I was impressed with the best bamboo bed mattress' quality. When I began testing out these mattresses, I didn't only get to sleep better, but wake up feeling more refreshed! It's as plush as I wanted it to be, sinking down to my body which has me feel more relaxed and sleeping quicker.

2

No Chemicals and Hypoallergenic

Like mentioned, bamboo foam mattress are made of naturally-sourced materials, so you're assured that there are no harmful chemicals in it.

Because of that, they are naturally hypoallergenic, so it lessens the chances of allergies and skin or eye irritation as you sleep. This is a fantastic benefit especially for those who are more prone to allergies.

3

Optimum Support

Another great feature is that these kinds of products are typically a memory foam or latex mattress infused with bamboo.

Because of this, it provides the much-needed support to relieve any pressure points in your body. So not only will you rest well but you won't have to worry about body aches and pains.

Downfalls of a Bamboo Mattress

However, this mattress does have its downfalls that you have to take note. There is no such thing as a perfect mattress, so do look into its cons, which are:

1

Expensive

Because bamboo mattresses are made of the naturally-sourced materials, you will also require to shell out a few more money than expected.

But don't worry, you're paying for quality and durability while staying comfortable! There are great options suitable for your money, though (I'll show you products with different fees for your reference!).

2

Requires Gentle Care

Compared to your typical mattress, one made of bamboo will require more care and conservation. Since they're made of natural and more "sophisticated" materials, expect to be more careful when sleeping on it and to follow the manufacturer's manual.

Fortunately, it's easy to clean for anyway, and you'll see the helpful tips below!

3

Might Not Be As Natural As Advertised

Just because they say it's made of bamboo doesn't mean it's an all-natural organic mattress and healthy for the environment! Cheap products go with second processing and materials.

Some mattresses would use chemical processes to produce bamboo fabric, while others are only made of less than 100% bamboo, which is definitely NOT what you paid for.

That's why it's important to look into the valid certificates of the mattress to ensure its chemical-free make. We'll get into that in the next section.

How to Choose The Bamboo Mattresses?

Now that you're familiar with what the bamboo mattress is, as well as its pros and cons, how do you know what's best for you?

There are at least a hundred bamboo mattresses available from different manufacturers, and there is no "one size fits all" mattress for everyone. That's why it's essential to find out when selecting the best one.

Here are the following tips and factors to consider when doing so:

1

Natural Material and Processing

I recommend that you focus on getting the bamboo mattresses made with the all-natural material. It should have undergone healthy processing without any toxic chemicals included to avoid any safety issues in the long-term.

For me, I focus on looking into mattress manufactured with bamboo lyocell or bamboo linen, which is less toxic for humans and better for the environment.

Here are the certifications to look out for:

  • Chain of Custody - This is the indication that the stages of production meet the criteria for responsible stewardship.
  • Standard 100 - This ensures that the mattress you purchase has no substances harmful to one's health or are banned by law.
  • Organic Crop Improvement Association- This indicates that the bamboos used are organic.
  • CertiPUR-US - This is the standard certification for all mattresses to ensure that it's made without any damaging chemicals such as ozone depleters, flame retardants, or heavy metals

2

Comfort and Support

There are different ways to support one may prefer. While some want a firmer mattress to make less pressure points, others wish to a softer and plush feel to feel like they're sleeping on a cloud.

You can find different firmness levels, from 1 to 10 (with 10 being the highest). Universal comfort offers the medium-firm feel, which is between levels 5 to 7. I think that you begin with the universal firmness and work your way through there.

3

Strength and Durability

Of course, you'll want to make sure that your mattress will last for the long-drawn. It will cost quite more, but you're paying for quality and long-term investment, which would be better compared to having a bed you have to replace, thus spending more time and money!

Go for trusted manufacturers and look into legitimate reviews (like mine) before making your decision.

4

Size and Thickness

Consider the size and thickness, which would depend on your bed frame and how many people plan to sleep on it. If you are a solo sleeper, then a twin or full mattress will do fine.

However, if you're a couple or relax with your child, then a queen or king-sized mattress will be best.

5

Type of Mattress

With today's technology, everything seems to be evolving quickly and with amazing quality. With newer products coming into the market (even with mattresses), we can now easily find the best ones suitable for our sleep!

One of the most recommended ones isn't just memory foam or bamboo mattress, but hybrid mattresses as well. With a hybrid mattress made of natural ingredients, it can help with the environment while maintaining a right mind and body.

Innerspring and memory foam mattresses also have its benefits and fine support as well, at much affordable. However, I'll be looking into all these kinds of mattresses (including hybrid), while ensuring its quality and comfort.

Extra Tips on Caring and Maintenance

Once you have found the right mattress, what are ways to take care of it to keep it lasting long? Here are beneficial tips you can follow:

  • Air your mattress once a week, turning back the covers to let it breathe. You can do this when washing the covers.
  • I advise that you should flip the mattress every six months to lengthen its lifespan and have it wear out evenly. This prevents dips and lumps.
  • Always make sure that you have a quality mattress cover on every time. Mattress covers and protectors will be able to defend the mattress itself from any spills and stains that can damage it in the long-term.
  • Vacuum the mattress and remove it from dust and dirt build up every month, or at least once every three months.
  • We can't get away from spills and stains. If ever you experience one, spot treat it soon by blotting it with a dry towel and work on the stain. Use white vinegar and water, then baking soda to remove the smell.
  • Never fold the mattress or jump on it (tell the kids!), as this would cause damage in the long run.

Wrapping It Up

If you want to ensure that you get a good night's sleep, then one of the things you'll have to look into is your mattress. For those on-budgeting but still, want the natural stuffs for durability and comfort. With so many benefits at such an excellent cost, you truly get your money's worth with this.

Of all the different kind of mattresses reviews, the best one will have to go to the Brentwood Home Cypress Mattress. What I appreciate most out of it is how comfortable it feels, even if I'm sleeping with my partner! Because it has the motion isolation feature, you won't feel your partner moving around as you sleep soundly.

It's made of the New Zealand Wool Wicks and other healthy materials, which reach the Golden State standards for environmental responsibility! Now THAT'S a mattress I would trust. And with its bamboo-derived rayon cover, the bed is just as breathable as it is comfortable and supportive.
